News Release: 5th Meeting of LIFE Natura2000Value Crete Project Steering Committee

The 5th Meeting of LIFE Natura2000Value Crete Project Steering Committee took place on Monday, the 12th of December 2016 at the Exhibiton Premises of Natural History Museum of Crete in Heraklion.

The progress of the communication strategy until today was the core of the dicussion between the participants in the meeting: production of communication material (banners, TV & Radio spots, notice boards, calendar of 2017), organization of workshops, training seminars, open events and participation in local festivals. In addition, the results of the Action B.1 - Information update and establishment of a clearing-house mechanism for the NATURA 2000 Network in Crete were presented by a representative of DAAC  publication of the project's progress until today as well as the actions that will be implemented in the near future. Moreover a representative of the Hellenic Ornithological Society (HOS) presented the environmental education campaign for the school year 2016-2017 which aims at the information and awareness of teachers and students concerning the ecosystem services of the NATURA 2000 sites in Crete.

The aforementioned actions are being implemented by NHMC, within the context of the project "LIFE Natura2000Value Crete" ("The ecological services, social benefits and economic value of the Ecosystem Services in Natura 2000 sites in Crete" - LIFE13 INF/GR/000188 – funded by Ministry of Environment and Energy). Cooperators of NHMC are the Decentralized Administration of Crete - Directorate of Coordination and Supervision of Forests and the Hellenic Ornithological Society (HOS).
