News Release: The travelling photo exhibition of the project at the Information Centre of the Psiloritis Natural Park in Anogeia
In the context of the communication actions of the project LIFE Natura2000 Value Crete, the University of Crete - Natural History Museum of Crete will present a photo exhibition entitled "NATURA 2000 sites and Ecosystem Services". The exhibition will be placed at the Information Centre of the Psiloritis Natural Park (AKOMM - PSILORITIS DEVELOPMENT AGENCY S.A, ORGANIZATION OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT) in Anogeia (Municipality of Anogeia) until the 20th of May.

News Release: LIFE Natura2000Value Crete project organised a workshop in Archanes, on the 17th of March 2017
The workshop of the project LIFE Natura2000Value Crete took place in Archanes, Municipality of Archanes-Asterousia, on the 17th of March 2017 and it is the 9th of a series of 24 workshops which will be held in all of the Municipalities of Crete in the context of the project's actions. It was held in the framework of a three-day (17 - 19 March 2017) educational seminar for teachers in the field of Environmental Education entitled: "Tourism and Environment: Local crops and products", organized by the Environmental Education Center of Archanes - Rouvas - Gouves, in collaboration with the Region of Crete and the Municipality of Archanes-Asterousia. The aims of the seminar were: a) the designation of the local crops in relation with the sustainable tourism in Greece, b) the connection of the natural environment of each region with the education for the promotion and consumption of local products, c) the promotion of Environmental Education activities, and d) the encouragement towards using good practices and exchanging of ideas between the participants.
News Release: Organisation of a workshop entitled "NATURA 2000 sites: Opportunity or obstacle for the development?" at Moires on the 28th of February 2017
The workshop of the project LIFE Natura2000Value Crete took place in Moires, Municipality of Faistos on the 28th of February 2017 and it is the 8th of a series of 24 workshops which will be held in all of the Municipalities of Crete in the context of the project's actions. Topic covered in the workshop was ''NATURA 2000 sites: Opportunity or obstacle for the development?" with the aim of informing the public concerning the NATURA 2000 sites at national and local level and the socio-economic benefits provided by nature and wildlife. Moreover, the benefits offered by agricultural ecosystems towards human societies were emphasized, since they constitute an essential part of NATURA 2000 Network in Crete. Attendants were given the chance to get informed about the various financial and development tools of the current year, focusing on investment opportunities in the protected areas. The workshop highlighted many issues of the local community and the attendants put effort into finding proper solutions and engaging in policy-making.

The workshop of the project LIFE Natura2000Value Crete took place in Gazi, Municipality of Malevizi on the 17th of February 2017 and it is the 7th of a series of 24 workshops which will be held in all of the Municipalities of Crete in the context of the project's actions. Topic covered in the workshop was ''NATURA 2000 sites: Opportunity or obstacle for the development?" with the aim of informing the public concerning the NATURA 2000 sites at national and local level and the socio-economic benefits provided by nature and wildlife, as well as presenting the natural ecosystems found in the wider area of the Municipality of Malevizi which are in need of immediate management and protection. Attendants were also informed about the existing funding opportunities for new businesses, taking into consideration the protection of the natural environment. Students from the High School of Gazi presented the local river of Almyros, its ecological value and the goods it offers to the local community.
LIFE Natura2000Value Crete networked with LIFE Natura Themis
In the context of its networking activities, LIFE Natura2000Value Crete has already been in contact and networked with LIFE Natura Themis.
LIFE Natura Themis (LIFE14/GIE/GR/000026: “Promoting awareness of wildlife crime prosecution and liability for biodiversity damage in NATURA 2000 areas in Crete”) is a five years’ project, aiming to promote environmental crime prosecution within NATURA 2000 areas in Crete, Greece. The project is addressed to Judges, State Prosecutors, Lawyers, NGOs, administrative authorities with interrogative competencies and the lay public.

The 5th Meeting of LIFE Natura2000Value Crete Project Steering Committee took place on Monday, the 12th of December 2016 at the Exhibiton Premises of Natural History Museum of Crete in Heraklion.
News Release: 3rd Meeting of the Stakeholders Consultative Team & LIFE Natura2000Value Crete Project Steering Committee
The 3rd Joint Meeting of the Project Steering Committee (PSC) and the Stakeholders Consultative Team took place on Tuesday, the 13th of December 2016, at the Exhibition Premises of the Natural History Museum of Crete.
Representatives of the A' Hunting Association of Crete & Dodecanese and the Federations of Professional Fishermen of Ierapetra & Siteia attended the meeting. Presentations concerning various financial tools and potential for development in the primary sector (agriculture, stockbreeding and fisheries) were given by specialists. A discussion between participants and specialists followed, designating their everyday problems and an effort was made in order to find effective solutions.
