Press Conference in Heraklion
A press conference took place at the Exhibiton Premises of Natural History Museum of Crete in Heraklion, on November 4th, 2015.
The main scopus of the press conference was to publicize the results of the environmental awareness survey, disseminate the environmental messages on the economic contribution of biodiversity and ecosystem services of NATURA 2000 sites to the human well-being and encourage the audience to discover the upcoming public awareness activities, such as the NATURA 2000 HALL, the printed and audiovisual material and the environmental education campaign.
Results of the environmental awareness survey on NATURA 2000 network, ecosystem services & green economy.
In order to assess perceptions, attitudes and current practises of local population of Crete with respect to NATURA 2000 network in Crete, ecosystem services and green economy, an environmental awareness survey was implemented between November 2014 to May 2015, within all 53 NATURA 2000 areas of Crete.
More specifically, questionnaires were distributed to the following stakeholders and target audiences:

In the framework of networking activities with other LIFE and non-LIFE projects, LIFE Natura2000 Value Crete participated at the Closing Ceremony of the LIFE11 INF/CY/000863 project: “BIOforLIFE - An Awareness Raising Campaign in Cyprus for appreciating biodiversity in our life” (http://www.cyprusbiodiversity.eu/), which took place on September 15 in Nicosia, Cyprus.

2nd Joint Meeting of the Stakeholders Consultative Team with the LIFE Natura2000Value Crete Project Steering Committee
The 2nd Joint Meeting of the Stakeholders Consultative Team with the LIFE Natura2000Value Crete Project Steering Committee , took place on the 16th of June 2015, at the premises of the Exhibition of the Natural History Museum of Crete (NHMC), in Heraklion, Crete. The Stakeholders Consultative Team is constituted by representatives of the main productive bodies / associations of the primary sector and tourism that are being activated within the areas of NATURA 2000 network in Crete.

Press Release: 21st of May, Pan-European Day for the NATURA 2000 Network
The 21st of May is the day dedicated by the European Union to the Natura 2000 Network. Despite the more than twenty years of establishment of the Network, little is known about it. The celebration of this day (Natura Day) completes three years this year, and was enacted for the provision of broader and better information to European citizens about the Network, its services and its benefits to the environment and society.
INF LIFE PLATFORM MEETING Krakow, Poland, 13-14th October 2014
On 13-14 October 2014, LIFE Natura2000Value Crete participated in the INF LIFE PLATFORM MEETING on “Raising awareness on Natura 2000”, that took place in Krakow, Poland. The aim of this meeting was to bring together beneficiaries of LIFE+ Information & Communication programmes from across Europe to share the experience and discuss some of the key issues regarding implementation of the EU legislation, nature conservation and sustainable development in Natura 2000 areas in different parts of Europe, effective mechanisms of transfering knowledge about the Natura 2000 network and changing the attitude of local communities towards the network.
